2022 call for nominations is open

The call for nominations for the International Human Rights Award "Emilio F. Mignone, 2022 edition: Centennial of his birth" is now open. In this edition, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, we honour his legacy and his pioneering role in the defence of Human Rights in Argentina and the world.

Nominations may be submitted until 30 September 2022.

To submit a nomination, the nominating institution or person must complete the following form, in Spanish and English

The Human Rights Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship will confirm receipt of the nomination by e-mail.

The award ceremony will take place on 13 December (date subject to change), in the framework of Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on 10 December in commemoration of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

The ceremony will be presided over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship, with the presence of authorities from the National Human Rights Secretariat, CELS and the Mignone family.

The recipient of the award will also receive a reproduction of a work of art by the Argentinean artist León Ferrari.

The Mignone Award 2022 will also include an invitation to the person or a representative of the winning institution to visit the Argentine Republic for approximately one week. This includes airfare from his/her place of residence in economy class, hotel and per diem. During their visit to the city of Buenos Aires, the winner will have an agenda of meetings and activities with governmental institutions, human rights organisations, academic institutions and the press, among others. The agenda will be agreed with the recipient according to the specific topics to be addressed.
