Foreign Affairs Ministers Mondino and Joly held bilateral on the margins of the UN General Assembly

On September 24, 2024, the Argentine Foreign Minister, Diana Mondino, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly, on the margins of the UN General Assembly to follow up on the continued contact that high-level officials from the two countries have been maintaining in recent months.

Mondino and Joly highlighted the excellent level of the bilateral relationship, which is based on shared principles, values ​​and interests, while also analyzing key issues of common interest at the hemispheric and global level, based on converging priorities.

During the meeting, they assessed the shared efforts to promote democracy and the rule of law in the region, focusing mainly on regional challenges such as the situation in Venezuela, Nicaragua and Haiti. In this regard, they discussed Argentina's key role in supporting democratic governance and against the erosion of the rule of law and human rights in the region. Likewise, they discussed positions regarding extra-regional conflicts and shared concerns about the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East.
